On Valentine’s day I bought a miniature rose plant to replace the two plants that had died while I was in California. The tiny rosebuds promptly withered and dried out because I’m really not that good with plants. So I chopped off the dead parts and adopted a wait-and-see attitude (a common theme in my life right now…)
The other day I noticed these tiny green leaves poking out from the stems. Maybe there’s hope after all :)

Two years ago I was in Taipei. I had just received an email the day before about a job opportunity that sounded too good to be true. I’m still pinching myself. And I still remember the shocking but delicious mix of flavors in this peanut brittle burrito - salty, crunchy, sweet, cilantro-y.

Home Improvement: Yesterday was my first day of “freedom” - no longer radioactive and a threat to others, I was free to roam the streets and bump into people.

My parents and I decided to take the bus to check out the 농협하나로클럽, a huge “agrofisheries market” (grocery store). Oh, how foolish we were. The LAST place anybody should go to on the Saturday before 추석 is a big mart. After 5 minutes we decided we’d rather leave than risk death by shopping cart.

The trip wasn’t a bust though…look at all my new plants! My apartment is starting to feel more and more homey. Let’s see how long I can keep these guys alive…

Low Iodine Diet Day 7: I don’t have one of those cute mini donut pans so I used this recipe and baked it in my canele pan before adding a lemon glaze. The gazpacho recipe is from Serious Eats. And my mom and I were craving potatoes. It’s potato season right now in Korea and these were really buttery and yummy just plain out of the steamer
